Research:

This is the family of John Coogan, a butter dealer from County
Monaghan, Ireland.  His children were born in the Castleblayney area
of the county.  His daughter, Catherine 'Emily', and his son Michael
Coogan, emigrated to the US in 1888.  Since there was only enough
money for one of them to continue from New York, Michael stayed there
to work and Catherine continued on to Clayton County, IA.  Many of her
descendants still live in Iowa to this day.

Catherine returned to Ireland twice.  Once she was there a year, 
staying with her mother and some of her siblings in Castleblayney 
and gave birth to her son, Michael.  A second time she returned but 
only stayed overnight.

Catherine is a descendant of Catherine (Emily) Coogan Lane.    

Patrick Lane, Catherine's (Emily's) husband, had a sister named 
Katherine Lane.  She was Judy's husband's great grandmother.

M. Coogan is related to Michael Coogan, Catherine's brother.
