Research:

This is one of the Coogan families of Shankill (or Shankelle), Parish 
Kilkerrin (or Kilkerran), County Galway.  They lived in the 
vicinity of Tuam and Moylough townlands.

Two members of this group, Martin Coogan and Bridget Coogan Tansey,
emigrated to the United States in the mid Nineteenth Century.  Both
settled in Louisiana.  Martin later moved north - presumably to 
Illinois.

This family could be related to the other families from Shankill.

We are currently looking for someone to link with this family and 
to take over the search!
