Notable persons at this site include:
Owen [Charles] Coogan (1820-1885), who emigrated from Monaghan, IRELAND, to Griffintown (Montreal), CANADA, in the early 1840s. He worked in Montreal as a horse trader, making business trips to the West Indies and US.
Owen's son, James Joseph Coogan (1846-1936), who moved to Cambridge, MA, in 1864. He then moved his family to Roxbury (Boston), MA, in 1874. He was known by many citizens of Boston for his 61 year career with the public transportation system.
James' son, William Patrick Coogan (1877-1960), who started a proud tradition of military service in our family. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War (Army).
James' grandson, Charles Eugene Coogan (1896-1998), who was employed nearly continuously for 85 of his 101 years. He and his sister, Josephine, were one of three sets of twins in our family.
